Christie has been actively engaged in civic participation within her community ever since she and her husband moved to the North Texas area in 2001.
Here are a few ways Christie demonstrates her commitment to community involvement in North Texas:
- Election Judge for Denton County
- Human Services Advisory Committee for 7 years
- Volunteer & Grant Writer for Friends of Shiloh Garden-Shiloh Field in Denton
- Member of First United Methodist Church of Denton
- Member of Denton New Horizons Band
For 30 years, I've worked full-time in the stained glass industry. What began as a small one-person stained glass studio in the basement of my home in Pennsylvania evolved into a five-person crew in Denton, Texas. Art Glass Ensembles (and later, North Wind Studio) was a Professional Accredited stained glass studio and a proud member of the Stained Glass Association of America. We engaged in civic participation by providing services to churches, businesses, and private homes throughout the USA. Our offerings included design, construction, installation, repair, and restoration of stained glass art, as well as Public Artwork, all while fostering community involvement and local engagement.

Before becoming a stained glass artist, Christie was involved in the computer industry for 23 years, where her work emphasized civic participation and community involvement through technology. She served most of that time as a Product Development & Marketing Manager for Unisys Corporation. Her association with their LINC development product led to her being stationed in Christchurch, New Zealand for 2 years at the LINC Development Centre, fostering local engagement within the tech community. She originally started her computer career as a programmer at the University of North Texas in their payroll department.

Christie started her music career early - at age 15, as the 3rd flute/piccolo player with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. Upon returning from her studies at UNT, she re-engaged with the Shreveport Symphony and other area orchestras, showcasing her commitment to civic participation through the arts. Christie has always played a variety of music, both classical and jazz. Currently, she plays woodwind instruments for Theatre Denton's orchestra in their musicals and performs bari saxophone with the Denton New Horizon Band. Additionally, her community involvement extends to singing with the choir at First United Methodist Church of Denton, and she was a member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus for many years, reflecting her dedication to local engagement in music.
